Some
years ago on one of our family holidays to Sardinia, we discovered "Sardafit",
a co-operative of local Holiday home owners, who had already been offering
their villas and apartments to visitors from Continental Europe for more than
20 years.
We were amazed and delighted to find such a varied selection of properties
close to wonderful sandy beaches and the crystal clear sea and we were astonished
when we realised that this area had yet to be discovered by British and Irish
Holidaymakers.Here
we had found a haven of relaxation for families and the individual traveller
alike, an area that offered itself to a vast variety of activities from snorkelling
and walking to rock climbing and kite surfing but which would also, with its
nature reserves, wild flowers and rare birds, appeal to those looking for
a a slower pace and a quiet time.
We found the contrast of the hinterland with its traditional villages and
the modern Italian towns captivating and we were fascinated to discover the
'Nuraghi' and traces of the many foreign influences over the centuries. Last
but not least, we were taken by the earnest yet exceptionally friendly manner
with which the Sards welcomed us.
After
some deliberation, we decided that with our great love for Sardinia and many
years of experience in the travel industry, we were ready to introduce this
part of Sardinia to the UK and Ireland. Now in our third year and with a wonderful
response to Sardinia and our programme, our enthusiasm is unscathed and we
hope that you will be just as enchanted with this wonderful island as we are.
We
are further delighted to introduce you now to our new destination: The island
of CRETE
Our love affair with Crete, the most Southern island in the Mediterranean, began
about 13 years ago, when we lived on the island for 5 years. Bewitched by its'
natural beauty and charmed by the Cretans and their laid back way of life, which
we happily embraced, we decided to set up house and to spend some time discovering
this exciting island. We found it bursting with evidence of historical importance:
Minoan palaces, Roman fortresses, Venitian town houses and harbours, Turkish
minarettes, byzantine churches, at al. We were astonished to find such an abundance
of archaelogical sites and places of historical interest.
Nature
seemed to be competing with dramatic contrasts of rugged, snow covered mountains,
narrow gorges, barren cliffs, and fertile plateaus, fragrant meadows, palm trees,
vine yards and orange groves; white, gently shelving beaches and rocky bays
and the immense expansion of deep blue sea surrounding everything. Simply breathtaking,
-as we are sure you will agree!
We are therefore very happy to now be able to offer you a wide-ranging selection of privately owned villas and apartments throughout Crete, provided in co-operation with Minotours, a local agency with over 20 years of experience, representing the local property owners and looking after the needs of our guests in resort.
